Represented Artist
Ezgi Yakın (b. 1988) has graduated from Dokuz Eylül University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting in 2010. She completed her Master’s Degree in the same department in 2015 and Proficiency in Art in 2024. Ezgi Yakın’s works are based on references consisting of fragments, traces and remains of architectural structures and everyday objects that are related to the environment and urban experience. She produces works in different disciplines such as painting, photography, installation and video, and aims to build linguistic bridges between them. While examining the whole-part, static-variable and function-dysfunction relationships, the dynamics approach between formal elements that fix and support the fluid elements come to surface. The artist transforms the visual aesthetics that emerge with the effects of time in the construction of places and spaces designed with an intellectual and political perspective, with an alternative perspective that supports imagination.
Yakın has participated to the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 2025 and the Kair Artist Residency Program in Slovakia in 2019. At the same time, Yakın’s articles appear in various periodical art publications. The artist is represented by Simbart Projects and continues to live in Izmir.
