Ezgi Yakın

Represented Artist

Ezgi Yakın (b. 1988, Turkey) graduated from the Painting Department of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Dokuz Eylül University in 2010. She completed her Master’s Degree in 2015 and her Proficiency in Art in 2024 at the same department. Yakın’s works are based on references derived from fragments, traces, and remnants of architectural structures and everyday objects associated with environmental and urban experience. She produces works primarily watercolor on paper, as well as installation and video, aiming to establish linguistic bridges between these media. Her practice proposes to examine the memory of space, traces and forms of everyday life, and dualities such as destruction and construction, function and dysfunction, through different perspectival planes. She investigates how the tools are used in urban construction and how they support and constrain the body, movement, and everyday situations.

In 2025, she participated in the renowned ‘Cité Internationale des Arts’ residency program in Paris and the ‘Kair Artist Residency’ in Slovakia in 2019. She had her solo exhibitions titled ‘Interval in Flux’ (2025), ‘Other Things Expected and Left Behind’ (2023) and ‘Stranger Time’ (2019) at Simbart Projects. In addition, Yakın has contributed writings to various periodical art publications. The artist is represented by Simbart Projects and continues to live in İzmir, Turkey.
