Where Do You Come From
In the “Athletes” and “Portraits” series, Şafak Gürboğa presents images through the centerline of these questions. Featuressuch as responsibility, equality, courage, ambition and unity, which belong to anation, points another direction in his portraits; a direction that descends from the nation to an individual. In other words, phenomenons such as totalitarianism and authority become concepts that not only refer to nations and governments but also to individuals. This, with the artist’s overall presentation, shows us the process of constructed identities. It is briefly possible to refine this situation: Truly, where do you come from?
