Kardelen Semerci

Kardelen Semerci (b. 1991, Antalya) completed her master’s degree in 2020 at the Department of Painting, Hacettepe University. Working in collage, assemblage, ceramics, video, and installation, the artist creates layers by combining different materials in her works. Through her use of collage techniques, she draws viewers into the space between art and life, exploring new and playful forms of communication within those unsettling layers. Kardelen Semerci often addresses concepts such as individuality, gender, and centrality. With her fragmented and layered structures, she reimagines traditional painting elements like form and color in a unique universe of her own. Her goal is to liberate memory through collage and to establish a connection between meaning and form. She examines concepts like accumulation, memory, permeability, and the unseen, and brings these concepts together by assigning them meanings beyond their conventional interpretations. The artist, who has participated in numerous group exhibitions both domestically and internationally, held her first solo exhibition titled ‘Orası Benim Olduğum Yer Değil’ (That’s Not Where I Belong) at OddArt Space Tekirdağ in 2023.
